The communications in KL is well organized from taxis to the Metro.  When you arrive at the Airport you can take the new KLIA Express to the city centre in less than 30 minutes but you will also find taxi surprisingly inexpensive.

Taxi Regular taxis can be found outside hotels or flagged from the street. All taxis are required to use a meter, so make sure your driver is using it. The starting fare is RM 3 for the first 1 kilometer, and then RM 1 for every subsequent kilometer. Between 00:00 – 06:00, there is a 50% surcharge.

Metro The LRT (Light Rail Transit) system, along with the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and Monorail, operates throughout most parts of the city between 6:00 – 24:00. The price starts at RM 1.20. During rush hours, trains run every 3-5 minutes.

City Buses The main bus service providers in Kuala Lumpur are Rapid KL, which operates a fleet of blue buses, and Go KL City Bus, which offers free green and purple route buses in the central business district. The bus network is extensive but can be confusing, so it’s advisable to use a transportation app or map. Ensure you have the exact change or use a transportation card like Touch ‘n Go.

KLIA Express When traveling to and from the airport, the fastest option is the KLIA Express. The non-stop journey takes less than 30 minutes and terminates at KL Sentral. The cost is RM 55 each way.
